Quantum Leap Cast

11th May 1965: Sam is disgusted and morally outraged when he leaps into the body of a man called Clyde, right in the middle of his initiation ceremony into the Ku Klux Klan. Sharing Sam’s repulsion at the bigotry of the Klansmen, who on the surface appear to be regular townsfolk and farmers, Al advises his friend to keep his cool while they try to determine what his latest mission is. After enduring a lift home by his father-in-law, and fellow clansman, Tom, Sam manages to confuse Clyde’s wife Lilly, when he chastises their son Cody for using a racist term in front of their ‘coloured’ maid, Ada Simpson. The following morning, Sam goes to work at the town Courthouse, where he is forced to turn down a black man’s request to vote in order to maintain his racist façade; however, his actions anger Ada’s son, Nathaniel, an African-American rights activist who believed Clyde to be sympathetic to their cause. Al informs Sam that Nathaniel is destined to be hanged by the Klan that night, as he leads a protest march through the town; Sam realises that in order to save Nathaniel’s life, he must earn the Klan’s trust – even if it goes against everything he stands for…
